Before the elves, the Lizardmen ruled supreme over the world. The Lizardmen began a decline as the elves arrived and pushed them out of the old holdfasts. The City and Temple of Tlaxtza (Tlaxt-za) was one of the last major outposts of Lizardmen, still being in use for centuries after men arrived. Around 1,000 years ago the local lizardmen abandoned the remains of Tlaxtza, and even then, it was mostly forgotten.
400 years ago, a great host of chaos, the one time joint forces of Vaprak and Yeenoghu threatened the Kingdoms of Men, Elves, and Dwarf. These forces where thrown back, and harried to the edge of the desert. A group of heroes decided to pursue this host in the desert, and both the heroes and evil host was never seen again, and in time, forgotten.
The reality is that the host lacking the leadership that was slane was drawn to the ruins, sensing some great evil deep in the earth. The Heroes entered the Ruins a few month later, and no one knows what happened to them.
For many years, the ruins where quiet. The desert was mostly empty, except for a few bands of Lizardmen who looked at the ruins with religious awe. However in the last ten years, a trade route has opened up, and the small village of Sweetwater was built around a trio of good wells. The trade caravans soon learned that there was some base of evil in the desert, as they where raided by all sorts of foul creatures. Soon it was discovered that the long near forgotten ruins was quite alive and the center of the issues vexing them.. The Trading companies quickly and quietly pacified most of the raiders, however it was not worth the money to clean out the ruins itself. The Ruins itself attracted both adventures looking for coin, and Disciples of Set and Orcus who wish to learn more about the great chaotic and evil knowledge of the newly rediscovered Ruins of Tlaxtza. Men and woman arrive weekly in Sweetwater to make a fortune in the Ruins of Tlaxtza.

Megadungeon in 365 days.
One of the projects (call it a new years resolution) is to create a Megadungeon in 365 days. I have decided to post it here on my blog. If this project moves forward, I will put out what is created in PDF format.
Things i know....
Will be published under Labyrinth Lord ruleset.
Will have a town that will be keyed out that will be a homebase for the party.
It will have many levels and sublevels, many of them themed.
It will depend on me actually being dedicated. That alone is a big question mark.

on the lighter side
It might be me, but LOST always felt like a freeform RPG made into a TV show.
GM: Ok, you are in a plane crash, you are on a deserted pacific island, what do you do.
Player 1: I stand around and go "It is a miracle"
Player 2: I was a prisoner being transported, so I am looking for anything that would show that i am a Prisoner and eliminate it.
Player 3: I am a con-man, so I am out to con people
Player 4: Wait, I am playing a con man too
player 5: I can't find my son, so I will scream "WALT" as loud as I can
player 6: I am a doctor, so I umm..patch people up and look for a radio.
GM: Ok then, when looking for a radio, you meet a bear. A POLAR BEAR.
